I must say that when I read what Charisma News writes about what various prophets are saying about the near future in our world, I am disappointed. I am disappointed because they never talk about the prophecies that Jesus Himself told us would happen. These prophets rarely play off of what the Bible says will take place on earth.
Take for example these Verses:
Matthew 10 21Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death. 22You will be hated by everyone because of me, but the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
Now, this is an interesting prophecy on betrayal and persecution. It was Jesus warning us about the future where the Gospel will create hatred for those who preach it. Most prophecy in the Scriptures is about warning, preparing us for what is to come.
Most prophecy in what I read in Charisma News is about revival of some sort. Now, I do not doubt that God wants no one to perish, so revival is a great objective to pray for, but what about betrayal and persecution? Why is it we never talk about what Jesus said would happen? Jesus told us the way of the Lord is a narrow gate and few will find it. He then clarified that the broad gate is where the masses will be found. This gives us an indication that finding life with God will be a narrow path, and few people will sacrifice to be on that path.
Betrayal is hard to go through, especially when it is with loved ones. If you have ever been betrayed by a loved one you understand how devastating this can be. I noticed during COVID-19, there was betrayal going on in many families on whether to be vaccinated or not … the lines were drawn, and attitudes hardened by both sides of this issue. Can you imagine when there is a worldwide emphasis on taking the number of the Anti-Christ to have a safer world and some loved ones will refuse to do it? The emphasis will be like the COVID-19 debate … everyone needs to get on board if the world will be healthier, safer, and more protected. They will use the threats that are put into a global context of inflation, wars, global warming, and viruses. Just think, they will vilify anyone who refuses to take the number and they will be made out to be your enemy.
Prophets need to warn, prepare, and correct the emphasis in the church … not be cheerleaders. We need the truth, and the truth never compromises with anything. Jesus told us the truth when He said:
Matthew 10:34 Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.
God’s Word is truth, and it is a sword. Jesus did not come to be a nice, passive religious leader … He came to separate this world from the lies we believe in … the lies we are familiar with in our culture, and the lies we hear in church. Yes, that is right … the lies we hear from religious leaders who do not know God but have a good story. The lies some leaders preach are beyond reconciliation. Americans have been given so much of the Gospel, and have seen miracles as a nation and in culture brought about by the preaching of the Gospel, yet many still do not believe. Jesus called out cities in Matthew 11:20 that He denounced because they had been given so much by God, seen so much by God, and yet refused to believe. He even said that their plight on judgment day will be worse than the punishment experienced by Sodom.
So, my point today is about truth and those who share it. Don’t accept anything that is not backed up by Scripture itself. Often good things can sound righteous, but they are not. God’s truth never changes, and it never compromises.
Don’t look to prophecies that are not directly found in the Scriptures. They cannot be trusted, no matter how correct they may seem to be. Stick to what is known to be true, and keep your eye on the horizon, His day will come, and it will be a day of making everything right.
