Everyone is talking about 2020 and some are even giving Prophecies about it. Here is the one Principle that you can know for sure will bring you hope in this New Year:
‘Evil will never triumph as long as there is a God.’
Evil is twisting everything today by making good things appear bad and bad things appear good; yet as long as God is God, there is no chance that Evil will prevail to complete victory in our world.
With that said, it is also important to remind people of what Jesus said of the Last Days.
Matthew 24 21For at that time there will be great tribulation, unmatched from the beginning of the world until now, and never to be seen again. 22If those days had not been cut short, nobody would be saved. But for the sake of the elect, those days will be shortened.
So, Evil will be influential, and it will surface in areas where it was not previously active.
Evil hates The Cross because it was at The Cross that God purchased our Salvation and condemned Satan to an everlasting torment in Hell. The Cross was Satan’s Judgment Day, and his sentence will be carried out when Jesus Returns to Rule and to Reign.
So, where The Cross is preached, Satan will be there to disrupt the Message and create a parallel gospel that is off just enough to make it false. It is the Story of the Wheat and the Tares all over again. Tares look like the wheat, but in reality, they are weeds … not wheat.
Here is where some of you may disagree with me, but I feel it needs to be said.
In order to know how Evil may have messed with your Church is to ask these questions: “What is your Church excited about?” “Is it the presentation, the Worship, the Movement of the Spirit?” “The Missions Movement, or the Youth Ministry?” How about the size of the congregation or the ability to raise large sums of money?
None of the above are legitimate questions to determine how Evil has messed with your Church.
The only question that really matters is: “Have people come to Faith in Jesus Christ and have their lives changed because of The Cross?”
Here is another Principle that is often overlooked in the Church:
Evil wants you to have a Cross-less Christianity.
Here’s why. You can accept all the good things the Church teaches on behavior modification, Prophecy, and social interaction, but you can fail to teach the born-again theology of the Faith demonstrated by the forgiveness at The Cross.
Being born again is a demonstration of God’s Power of The Cross. It means my life is changed because it is no longer mine to direct - it belongs to Christ. Let me demonstrate how Evil uses this.
Two brothers in Christ have a disagreement and it becomes the catalyst of breaking fellowship with hard feelings. This is Evil at work because being born again doesn’t consider disagreement’s sources of breaking fellowship. Here’s why. ‘Whatever you prefer over Forgiveness, Reconciliation, and Restoration between Believers is what you end up worshipping.’ Of course, we don’t call it worship, we call it my right to disagree. Yet, in the end, it is what you worship because it keeps you living in unforgiveness, resentment and even hatred. Tell me how Evil isn’t a part of that kind of response?
How many times do people leave a Church because there is something wrong between ideas, people, or theology? Evil has a main objective … to divide Believers and get people to live without God.
Division is the main reason the Church is impotent in influencing society to Trust in God.
The late preacher and prophet David Wilkerson taught that in the Last Days there would be a True Church and false church. I don’t hear Churches described this way much anymore, but I think he was right. There is a false church that does good things, teaches on love, and accepts everyone without reservation. It all seems what Churches should do, but that is not the reason for the Church. Loving, Forgiving, Accepting, being Missionaries … are all by-products of a changed life. The True Church’s Message is about The Cross and how it changes everything. The false church wants to be liked and popular with the success of its reputation for being loving and accepting.
The Message of The Cross is not an easy message to preach in our self-satisfying world, yet it is the Power of God.
1 Corinthians 1 17For Christ did not send me to baptize, but to preach the gospel, not with words of wisdom, lest the cross of Christ be emptied of its power. 18For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
The Cross is the Power of God - now that’s the Message of the True Church.
